Akin to Middle Mongol ᠪᠠᠭ᠋ᠠᠲᠤᠷ (baɣatur, Baghatur) and Turkish Batur. Some authors claim Iranian origin of the word, the first syllable is very likely the Iranian title word *bag "god, lord".
