Borrowed from Arabic آمِن (ʔāmin), from an Arabic dialect with imāla.[1] Classical Arabic /ʔaːmin/ becomes /ʔeːmin/ with imāla.
Compare Classical Persian لیکن (lēkin), from Arabic لٰكِنْ (lākin).
