Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ūdïku (sleep); cognate with Azerbaijani uyqu, Bashkir йоҡо (yoqo), Chuvash ыйхӑ (yjh̬ă), Kazakh ұйқы (ūiqy), Kyrgyz уйку (uyku), Southern Altai уйку (uyku), Turkmen uky and Uzbek uyqu.
