Etymology
From أَلْمَانِيَا (ʔalmāniyā, “Germany”), with the first quadriliteral conjugation implying the bestowing of a particular quality. Compare أَمْرَكَ (ʔamraka, “to Americanize, to make American”)، فَرْنَسَ (farnasa, “to Gallicize, to make French”), عَرَّبَ (ʕarraba, “to Arabize, to make Arab”), تَرَّكَ (tarraka, “to Turkify, to make Turkish”), هَوَّدَ (hawwada, “to Judaize, to make Jewish”).
