בָּרָא • (bará) third-singular masculine past (pa'al construction, passive counterpart נִבְרָא)
- To create (when act of a deity).
- Tanach, Genesis 1:27, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:
- וַיִּבְרָא אֱלֹהִים אֶת־הָאָדָם בְּצַלְמוֹ בְּצֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים בָּרָא אֹתוֹ זָכָר וּנְקֵבָה בָּרָא אֹתָם׃
- Va-yivrá Elohím et ha-adám b-tsalmó, b-tsélem Elohím bará otó, zakhár u-n'qevá bará otám.
- And God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.

- On tree fruits say, "He creates the fruit of the tree," except for on wine, for on wine say, "He creates the fruit of the vine." And on ground fruits say, "He creates the fruit of the earth."
