Etymology
From earlier *վազր (*vazr) (compare վազրաւոր (vazrawor, “soldier carrying a mace”)), borrowed from Middle Persian wzl (wazr, “mace”), which is related to Modern Persian گرز (gorz, “club, mace”). See also վաղր (vałr).
