յանդուգն
Old Armenian
Etymology
Ačaṙean derives from յ- (y-) + ան- (an-) + *դուգն (*dugn), from Proto-Indo-European *dʰugʰ-, zero-grade of *dʰewgʰ- (“to be strong, have force”). The prefix ան- (an-) here is not the privative one. Among the cognates compare especially the family of English doughty.
