Old Armenian
Etymology
NHB identifies with ընդոստ (əndost, “leaping out, jumping out”), from ընդ (ənd) + ոստնում (ostnum, “to leap, jump”).
This is rejected by Ačaṙean because of semantics, who derives ըմբոստ (əmbost) from ընդ (ənd) + *բոստ (*bost), the latter unattested component presumably inherited from Proto-Indo-European *bʰos-ti-, from *bʰos- (“to sally forth, barge, hurtle out”). For the cognates see *bystrъ.
