Etymology

From Proto-Turkic *kod- (to put). Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (qod-, to put, place);[1] Kazakh қою (qoü), Southern Altai койор (koyor),Uzbek qoʻymoq, Turkish koymak, Azerbaijani qoymaq, Chuvash хур (hur, to put, place).
