From *šekilli (“in the form of; apparently”), from Arabic شَكْل (šakl, “form, shape”) + Turkic ending -li (see Bashkir -ле (-le)).
Cognate with Tatar шикелле (şikelle), Kazakh секiлдi (sekildi, “like, similar to”), Kyrgyz шекилди (şekildi), шекилдүү (şekildüü), шыкылды (şıkıldı), Uzbek shekilli (“apparantly”), Turkmen şekilli (“-formed; -looking”).
