Etymology

Inherited from Old East Slavic кленовꙑи (klenovyi), кленовъ (klenovŭ), from Proto-Slavic *klenovъ, from *klȅnъ.[1] By surface analysis, кленъ (klen) + -овый (-ovyj). Cognate with Russian клено́вый (klenóvyj), Old Czech klenový.
