Etymology

From зітх(ну́ти) (zitx(núty)) + -а́ти (-áty), displacing the inherited form здиха́ти (zdyxáty) (compare Russian вздыха́ть (vzdyxátʹ), Belarusian уздыха́ць (uzdyxácʹ), Old East Slavic въздыхати (vŭzdyxati)).[1]
