From Old Turkic 𐰘𐱅𐰃 (yeti, “seven”), from Proto-Turkic *yẹt(t)i (“seven”). Cognate with Azerbaijani yeddi, Bashkir ете (yete), Crimean Tatar yedi, Khakas читі (çitì), Turkish yedi, etc.
