Etymology

Inherited from Old Ruthenian дари́ти (daríti), from Old East Slavic дарити (dariti), from Proto-Slavic *dariti. Equivalent to дар (dar) + -ити (-yty). Cognate with Belarusian дары́ць (darýcʹ), Russian дари́ть (darítʹ), Czech dařit, Polish darzyć.
