Reflects Proto-Slavic *gybъkъ (flexible), possibly borrowed from Russian ги́бкий (gíbkij). Cognate with Macedonian гибок (gibok) (dialectal). Morphologically identical to ги́бам (gíbam, to flex, to hang, to thread) (dialectal) + -ък (-ǎk).
