τάπης
Ancient Greek
Alternative forms
- τάπις (tápis), δάπης (dápēs), δάπις (dápis), τάβης (tábēs)
Etymology
The origin is uncertain. Traditionally derived from Iranian (compare Persian تنبسه (tanbase, “carpet, rug”)), but Beekes argues for a Pre-Greek origin.[1]
