λάθυρος
Ancient Greek
Etymology
No etymology. Traditionally compared to similar words for "lentil", like Latin lens, Old Church Slavonic лѧща (lęšta) and German Linse. According to Beekes, the structure (suffix -υρ-) could point to a Pre-Greek origin.
