United Nations Security Council Resolution 2699, adopted on 2 October 2023, authorized a Kenya-led security mission in Haiti.[1] The mission is a response to the 2018–2023 Haitian crisis and the gang war in Haiti, with UN support initially requested on 7 October 2022, a year prior.[1][2] The resolution also extended a previous arms embargo.[3]

The resolution was drafted by the United States and Ecuador. 13 members voted in favour, with Russia and China abstaining.[1]

As of 2 October 2023, Kenya, Jamaica, the Bahamas and Antigua and Barbuda have agreed to provide personnel, while the United States offered a maximum of $200 million.[4]
