Plot summary
The novel follows alcoholic writer Wilfred Barclay, a middle- aged man with an unhappy marriage, and his conflict with young professor Rick Tucker, who is determined to write Barclay's biography and desperate to gain control of the writer's personal papers, as he pursues Barclay across Europe.[2]
