Sobti is a Punjabi Khatri surname.[1]

Background

They were also found in the town of Alamgarh in Gujrat district.[2] According to a local legend a clan of Khatri (Sobati) fought against Alexander the Great.[3] Bhai Daya Singh, a Panj Pyara was the first man to sacrifice his head for Guru Gobind Singh.[4]
