The Port of Muscatine is a proposed multimodal transport interchange in Muscatine, Iowa, envisioned as a public-access intermodal container terminal and port district on the Mississippi River, occupying a 100 acres beside the Mississippi River.[1] A feasibility study for the port was funded by a grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation's Linking Iowa's Freight Transportation Systems (LIFTS) program. The grant was awarded in 2016, and the feasibility study was completed by HDR, Inc. in 2017.[2] The estimated price to construct the port was between $22 million and $40 million. If constructed, it would feature the ability to transport goods all year round. The port would have utilities, room for storage, and warehouse buildings. The port would be deep enough to accommodate larger barges, making it more competitive.[3]
