Her songs Bihar Me Ka Ba?, UP Me Ka Ba? And UP me ka ba? Part 2 became viral. Her social media profiles claim that she is ‘fighting to restore the honour’ of Bhojpuri songs through her folk renditions.

Early life and education

Neha Singh Rathore was born in a middle-class Rajput family in a tiny village Jaldahan, situated on Bihar-Uttar Pradesh border, of Kaimur district of Bihar. Her father Ramesh Singh is an architect and mother Champa Devi is a homemaker. Her village school only runs up to Class VIII so Rathore had to move to block HQ at Ramgarh to complete her secondary-level education. After that, she went to Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh to do a B.Sc[3]

Personal life

She has been married to Himanshu Singh Rathore, a writer, since 2021[4]

Controversy

Neha Singh Rathore came into controversy when she satirized the Yogi government during the Corona period by singing that UP me Ka Ba? Through this, she had raised serious issues like Corona period system, Hathras incident etc.[5]

Neha Singh Rathore courted controversy for the second time when her song UP Mein Ka Ba? Part 2 sang, satirising the Dixit family incident in Kanpur Dehat even though the perpetrator was promptly convicted by the UP administration after the incident. After this the police handed over the notice to her.[6][7][8][9]

On 7 July 2023, a person named Suraj Khare fild an FIR against her at Habibganj police station in Bhopal under Section 153(A) (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race etc.) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) over her social media post on the urination incident in Madhya Pradesh, where a man named Pravesh Shukla urinated on a tribal named Dashmesh Rawat.[10]
