Mazdavand (Persian: مزدآوند; formerly, Marzdaran (Persian: مرزداران), also Romanized as Marzdārān, Mazdarān, Mozdarān, and Mozdūrān)[3] is a city in, and the capital of, Marzdaran District of Sarakhs County, Razavi Khorasan province, Iran,[4] and also serves as the administrative center for Marzdaran Rural District.[5]

At the 2006 census, its population was 1,028 in 248 households.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 1,559 people in 292 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 1,241 people in 329 households.[2]

Mazdavand has an important strategic position and is considered as the entrance gate of Sarakhs. Most of the people in this city speak Persian and some others Baluchi and Turkish.

Near this village is Mazdavand Cave, which is of strategic importance.[8]
