Mars Express is a 2023 French animated neo-noir science fiction film directed by Jérémie Périn.
Plot
Set in the 23rd century on Mars, the plot follows the investigation on a murder case carried out by the couple formed by private investigator Aline Ruby and her android companion Carlos Rivera.[1]

The film is an Everybody On Deck production.[2] It had a €9 million budget.[1]
Release
The film premiered in the 'Cinéma de la Plage' section of the 76th Cannes Film Festival on 23 May 2023.[3] It also made it to the competitive slate of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.[4] It was released theatrically in France on 22 November 2023.
Reception
Rafael Motamayor of /Film rated the film 8 out of 10 points, writing it "works because even its most outlandish and complex sci-fi concept is grounded in human drama".[5]
Wendy Ide of ScreenDaily deemed the film to be "striking and timely animation".[2]
The film received a Lumières Award nomination for Best Animated Film at the 29th Lumières Awards in 2024.[6]
