Season chronology

The German television mystery music game show I Can See Your Voice premiered the inaugural shortlived first season on RTL as a two-night pilot episode[1][2] on 18 and 19 August 2020.[3][4]

During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it was also known for airing pilot episodes involving audience without health and safety protocols implemented. Because of backlash from viewers, the show forced to halt production, bringing the first season ended prematurely, which is similar to the second season of Philippine counterpart.[5][6]

Gameplay

Format

Under the original format, the contestant can eliminate mystery singers after each round, and ended with the last remaining mystery singer depending on the outcome of a duet performance by guest artist(s).[7]

Rewards

If the singer is good, the contestant wins 10,000; if the singer is bad, the same amount is given to the bad singer instead.

Rounds

Each episode presents the guest artist and contestant with seven people whose identities and singing voices are kept concealed until they are eliminated to perform on the "stage of truth" or remain in the end to perform the final duet.

  1. First impression (German: Erster Eindruck)
The guest artist and contestant are given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on its appearance.
  2. Lip sync (German: Das Playback)
Each mystery singer performs a lip sync to a song. Good singers mime to a recording of their own performance, while bad singers mime to a recording by someone else.
  3. Fact or fake? (German: Fakt oder Fake?)
The guest artist and contestant are presented with a video package in which one of the mystery singers discusses their life and musical qualifications.
  4. Cross-examination (German: Kreuzverhör)
The guest artist and contestant may ask questions to the remaining mystery singers. Good singers are required to give truthful responses, while the bad singers must lie.
