Gmina Mokotów was a rural gmina (municipality) of the Warsaw County, located in the Warsaw Governorate, with its seat of government located in the village of Mokotów (now part of Warsaw).[1][2] From 1867 to 1915, it was part of Vistula Land (Congress Poland) in the Russian Empire, and from 1915 to 1916, part of the Government General of Warsaw administrated by the German Empire.[1][3][4] On 8 April 1916, from the orders of governor-general Hans Hartwig von Beseler, Gmina Mokotów was incorporated into the city of Warsaw.[1] Its administration was ultimately resolved on 1 July 1916, being fully incorporated into city administration.[5] It was a highly urbanized municipality, de facto functioning as a suburb of Warsaw (especially after the typical rural areas were detached from it to the Wilanów municipality in 1909).
