Foxtron Inc. or Foxtron Vehicle Technologies is a Taiwanese manufacturer of electric cars and buses based in Taipei operating since 2020. It belongs to the joint-venture between the technology company Foxconn and the car company Yulon.[1]

History

In September 2020, Taiwanese electronic components giant Foxconn, previously operating in the automotive industry only as a supplier or investor, decided to actively enter it as a manufacturer. For this purpose, a joint-venture company was established with the local Taiwanese car concern Yulon.[2] The goal was to develop electric cars.[2]

In mid-October 2021, during a press conference in the capital of Taiwan, Taipei, the Foxtron brand was officially launched and its goal was to launch a range of electric cars and buses manufactured in Thailand from 2023.[3] The Taiwanese company's future model range was heralded by three prototypes: the Model C crossover, the Model T bus and the top Model E limousine, whose styling was designed by the Italian studio Pininfarina.[4] The start of trial testing of the Model T bus is scheduled for 2022.[5] In October 2022, the Taiwanese company presented another study, this time an affordable urban hatchbacka Model B styled by the Italian Pininfarina.[6]

The company made financial losses in 2021 and 2022.[7]
