Der singende Tor (literal English translation: The Singing Fool)[2] is a 1939 German-Italian musical film directed by Johannes Meyer and starring Beniamino Gigli, Kirsten Heiberg, and Hilde Körber.[3] It was a co-production made at Cinecittà Studios in Rome with a German director and a cast of mixed nationalities. The film's sets were designed by the art director Otto Guelstorff. A separate Italian version called Casa lontana was also made.

  2. Note: As of April 2021, IMDb says the English title is "The Singing Gate" – but that would be a false translation of "Der Tor", and no other sources were found to confirm that this title was ever used. Even IMDb calls it an "informal English title". Should not be used unless confirmed by reliable other sourcing.
