A resort named Crestview Lodge was founded at the place in 1927 by Clarence Wilson.[2] The condemned lodge was burned in a fire department training exercise in 1977.[3] Today, the site of Crestview is occupied by a Caltrans maintenance station and a US Forest Service campground.
