CHIREC International is a K–12 school located in Hyderabad, India. The school was founded in 1989 by Mrs. Ratna D. Reddy.[2]

CHIREC has three campuses, with the main campus located in Kondapur, Pre-Primary campus in Jubilee Hills and a third one in Gachibowli with Pre-Primary – Classes 1 to 4. The school offers three curricula: International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).[3]

History

In April 1989, the Children Recreational Centre (CHIREC) began as a summer camp that offered classes in fine arts, performing arts, computer science and indoor and outdoor sports. The same year in June, CHIREC evolved into a school for Nursery, PP-I and PP-II students. In 1996, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated CHIREC's eco-friendly Integrated Campus at Kondapur, where it covers 6 acres (2.4 ha). In 2004, CHIREC unveiled its Jubilee Hills Pre-Primary school campus, and introduced Senior Secondary classes at the Kondapur campus. Shortly after, in 2006, the first batch of Class XII graduated from the school. In 2008, the Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP) was introduced and in 2011 the Cambridge International General Certificate of Education Cambridge International A/AS levels for Classes 10 and 12 were set in motion. In 2012, CHIREC gained authorization for International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The Gachibowli branch, which caters to students from Grades 1 through 3, was also inaugurated in 2012.

In 2019, CHIREC entered into a partnership with Cognita, a global schools’ group with 76 schools across Asia, Europe, and Latin America.

Campuses and education

CHIREC International has three campuses, in Kondapur (main campus), Jubilee Hills, and Gachibowli. The campuses are set up with solar power generation, recycling and resource management to benefit the environment.[4]

The school reports that its students undertake innovative projects. Some examples are:

  • RoBoat – a remote-operated lake cleaning machine
  • Solarmy – a device that generates and stores solar energy for use in remote areas
  • Energify – an energy-generating tile
  • MedEasy - an automated medical dispenser and monitoring system

The schools offer many clubs, including drama, oratory, culinary, cinema, science, photography learning, design, creative writing, and the E3 Club (Environmental Enrichment and Empowerment).
