Azadshahr (Persian: آزادشهر, also Romanized as Āzādshahr and Āzād Shahr; formerly, Shah Pasand (Persian: شاه پسند), also Romanized as Shāh Pasand)[3] is a city in the Central District of Azadshahr County, Golestan province, Iran, serving as both capital of the district and of the county.
At the 2006 National Census, its population was 38,260 in 9,260 households.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 39,484 people in 10,994 households.[5] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 43,760 people in 13,206 households.[2]
