Ava (Persian: آوا) is a city in Samalqan District of Samalqan County, North Khorasan province, Iran. The city was formed in July 2013 from the merger of two villages in Qazi Rural District: Shahrabad-e Khavar and Shahrabad-e Kord.[3]
At the 2006 census, its population (as the total of the two predecessor villages) was 3,615 in 927 households.[4] The following census in 2011 counted 4,058 people in 1,187 households.[5] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 3,993 people in 1,268 households,[2] by which time the two villages had been merged to establish the new city of Ava.[3]
