Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahim (born 31 December 1969) is a nobleman and the prince consort to Princess Rashidah, daughter of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. Notably, he is a member of the Privy Council,[1] and the vice chairman of DPMM FC.[2]

Career

Abdul Rahim earned his Higher National Diploma in Business studies from the United Kingdom. He returned to Brunei to help look after his family's business.[3]

Upon taking cheteria membership, he began carrying out royal duties during ceremonial events. Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah and Princess Sarah agreed to organize the Majlis Doa Selamat and Kesyukuran Istiadat Bersiram in honour of Prince Abdul Muntaqim's birth in the afternoon of 22 May 2007. The event was overseen by Abdul Rahim and was held in the Istana Nurul Iman's surau.[4] On 8 January 2023, he assisted the wedding of Princess Azemah and Prince Bahar.[5][6]

Personal life

Born on 31 December 1969, Abdul Rahim is the son of nobleman Pengiran Anak Kemaluddin Al-Haj and his wife, Pengiran Anak Siti Rafiah. He is the grandson of Pengiran Muda Hashim.[7][8] His hobbies included playing polo, badminton and association football.[3]

Marriage

Radio Television Brunei (RTB) broadcast the wedding ceremony of Princess Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah and Abdul Rahim,[9] which adhered to the Malay Muslim Monarchy doctrine. On 9 August 1996, the Majlis Istiadat Bersuruh Diraja met at Istana Nurul Iman. The people of Brunei have been hearing rumors prior to the wedding. A 21-gun salute at the Lapau followed by court musicians performing on traditional musical instruments marked the start of the Gendang Jaga-Jaga. The Menerima Tanda Diraja then took place on the 12th.[3]

The Menerima Pertunangan Diraja then got under way on the afternoon of the 13th. The Berbedak Ceremony took place the next day, and on the 15th at Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Akad Nikah united the bride and husband. After several days of rituals, the Bersanding was performed on the 18th in front of the Royal family and 5,000 visitors from both domestic and foreign countries in the Throne Hall of the Istana Nurul Iman.[3]

Children

Abdul Rahim and Princess Rashidah have 2 sons and 3 daughters. The order by age is as follows;
