The 2024 Wokingham Borough Council election is scheduled to take place on Thursday 2 May 2024, alongside the other local elections in the United Kingdom on the same day.[1]
Background
The council usually elects members in thirds every year except the 4th in a four-year cycle.[2] However, due to a boundary review of the wards by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England, all 54 seats to Wokingham Borough Council are up for election.[3] At the previous election, held in 2023, the Liberal Democrats gained 3 seats to have 26 seats, leaving the council in no overall control, as a majority is 28 seats.[4][5]
Party | Seats | |
---|---|---|
Liberal Democrats | 26 | |
Conservatives | 22 | |
