The 1942 NCAA gymnastics championships were contested at the fifth annual NCAA-sanctioned gymnastics meet to determine the team and individual national champions of men's collegiate gymnastics among its member programs in the United States.[1]

The championships were hosted at Dahlgren Hall at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Three-time defending champions Illinois again finished on top of the team standings, the Fighting Illini's fourth team title.

The individual all-around championship was won by Newton Loken from Minnesota.

Due to the onset of World War II, this would be the final NCAA men's gymnastics championships until 1948, six years later.
