Background

The L series Satellites were Toshiba's mainstream consumer line of Satellite laptops. The 2010s-issue L series was slightly pricier than the C series, improving on features like keyboards, trackpads, and speakers, USB 3.0 ports, and Core i7 processor configurations. Toshiba aimed to sell the L series to students and the Toshiba Satellite L670 was released in 2010 by Toshiba as one of the company's wide range of laptops they released around this time.

The $600 L670 was the first in it's series of laptops of which there are 80+ specific models, each improving on the last. The series priced above the L series, the M and U series Satellites were marketed as multimedia-oriented machines, powerful enough for casual gaming and video playback while still being lightweight enough to be easily mobile. Higher than these were the P series that featured Widescreen for the time and were priced around $800 in 2012. The highest rung of series were the ultrabooks in the T series.

While the L670 did not have any recalls, many Satellite laptops, including the L670, were included in battery pack recalls that occurred in March of 2016. Toshiba had to expand the number of batteries between June 2011 and November 2016. In 2016, the Satellite line was discontinued when Toshiba left the consumer personal computer market. The Sharp Corporation purchased the computer division in 2020 as Dynabook and continues making the Satellite series today.

Being that it is a piece of technology that was still evolving rapidly, it is now very outdated. This model has a 17.3-inch frame and has a weight of almost 6 pounds. Toshiba says this device was "ideal for everyday computing" and the prevailing descriptor in it's online reviews is "decent". Fun fact, A Toshiba Satellite personal computer was used to send the first email ever sent by President Bill Clinton during his presidency.
