Background Information

Announced at the start of 2024, the Rabbit R1 is a portable handheld AI assistant developed by the tech start-up Rabbit Inc. and manufactured by the Swedish consumer electronics company Teenage Engineering.

The Rabbit R1's operating system was advertised to use a Large Action Model (LAM) to interact with and learn how to use applications through user training. This approach in theory could eliminate the need for traditional API and developer support, allowing the operating system to adapt and learn new application functionality.

However, YouTuber Coffeezilla revealed that the LAM does not exist as advertised. Instead, the Rabbit R1 uses ChatGPT 3.5 Turbo and the web automation tool Playwright, along with hard-coded scripts, to navigate websites.

The Rabbit R1 is currently available in a Leuchtorange finish, with 128GB of storage, and retails for $200 USD.
