Background
The Core 300-RAC is an air purifier created by Levoit, a Vesync Co., Ltd subsidiary. The Core 300-RAC, released in 2019, is the second smallest air purifier in Levoit's Core lineup and sits between the Core 200S and the Core 400S. Major features of the Levoit Core 300-RAC include QuietKEAP™ Technology, which "uses shock pads to reduce noise from the motor and increase abrasion resistance, extending the life of the motor," VortexAir™ Technology which "creates an air vortex that increases the air purifier's power and efficiency, distributing more clean air throughout the room," and the motor does not create ozone. Levoit claims that the Core 300-RAC can clean a 65ft² room in 3 minutes, a 150ft² room in 8 minutes, a 219ft² room in 12 minutes, and a 350ft² room in 20 minutes.
The Levoit Core 300-RAC and its replacement filters are available on the Levoit website and other marketplaces and retail for $99.99 for the device, while the 3-Stage Pet Allergy and 3-Stage Toxin Remover filters retail for $35.99, and the 4-Stage Smoke Remover replacement filter retails for $39.99.
The Levoit Core 300-RAC is touted by reviewers as one of the best compact and budget air purifiers, with its size, price, effectiveness, and quietness being its most revered features. However, the Levoit Core 300-RAC is not perfect. People complain about a funky smell from the filter, a rattling noise from the fan area, and the unit not turning on after some time. Some customers are complaining that they feel deceived by the company as the Levoit Core 300-RAC was advertised to come with a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter, but customers discovered that the filter did not meet HEPA standards, and Levoit changed its product description to not include the word HEPA in the product listing.
There are no current known failures or recalls on the device.
