Background
The Garmin Vívoactive 4 is a lightweight smartwatch designed to monitor the user’s health during exercise. Released on September 4, 2019 alongside the Garmin Vívoactive 4S, the Garmin Vívoactive 4 was globally marketed to individuals of all genders who prioritize fitness and well-being. It replaced the Vívoactive 3, boasting new features including body battery energy monitoring, a built-in pulse oximeter, onboard music storage, on-screen workouts, and an expanded range of preloaded sports and workout activities. While it will eventually be phased out by the Garmin Vívoactive 5, the device is still sold on the official Garmin website for $349.99. The Vívoactive 5 introduced recovery time and heart rate variability tracking, as well as automatic nap detection and wheelchair-specific sport profiles.
The Garmin Vívoactive 4 comes pre-equipped with a step counter, sleep monitor, heart rate tracker, stopwatch, and calories burned tracker, along with workout trackers for a variety of activities including running, treadmills, indoor track, biking, walking, floor climbing, swimming, golfing, skiing, snowboarding, weightlifting, cardio, yoga, stair climbing, and rowing.
The watch is waterproof, and it even allows users to connect to a phone to listen to music, use a GPS, and read notifications on the go. Garmin also promises a great user experience with an eight-day battery life and a customizable user interface.
However, not all users find that the Vívoactive 4 lives up to its battery life expectations. Complaints about quick battery drain are common. Many suggest that this may be due to firmware updates, but this could also be a result of battery degradation. Additionally, a large portion of user reviews mention issues with the watch's touch screen being unresponsive. While this can usually be resolved upon startup, it is a drawback to keep in mind.
Identification
This model of the Garmin Vívoactive can be identified by the name Garmin and the model name Vívoactive 4 on the back the device (above and below the sensor, respectively). These words are a silver or grey tone, contrasting with the darker material of the watch.
