Braun KMM1 Coffe Grinder Disassembly for cleaning
Background and Identification
The Braun KMM1 is a coffee grinder first released in 1965. It was created for Braun by the industrial designer Reinhold Weiss as one of many products he designed in the 1960s. The KMM1 is made from whiteish plastic (it may have yellowed some with age) and features a roughly rectangular base with rounded edges. One side of the base has a cutout where you are meant to insert the coffee catcher where the machine will deposit the ground beans.
The top of the KMM1 includes a circular blade that serves to grind down the coffee beans when they filter down from the bean holder that you attach just above. This guide shows how to remove and disassemble the bean holder so that you can clean the blade and the bean chute. As for power, the grinder has a very long power cord extending from the back. You might be able to replace this power cord if it is damaged, but it would likely require full disassembly and some soldering.
To identify this coffee machine, look on the bottom for a sticker containing the model number “KMM1.” This sticker also contains information about the voltage required to operate the machine, either 220 V for European models or about 120 V for North American models (supposedly more rare).
