Troubleshooting

If you are having issues with the Amazon Echo Show 5, try referring to the troubleshooting page.

Background

The Amazon Echo Show 5 is part of the Show series of Amazon’s Smart Home Devices. The 5.5” display is what distinguishes this device from its other Amazon Echo counterparts. The Amazon Echo Show 5 1st generation was released in 2019 and measures 5.8 x 3.4 x 2.9 inches and weighs 14.5oz.

Software issues are easy to troubleshoot but some issues arise from trying to replace or repair broken components. The device is simple to get into. By removing the bottom plate, you reveal a couple of screws, but Amazon offers no replacement parts. This means that product owners will need to either shop on third-party websites or purchase another Amazon Echo Show 5 for use as parts.

Identification

The Amazon Echo Show 5 was built with a 5.5-inch screen located on the front of the device, and on the opposite side, you will find the speaker. Buttons such as mute, increasing and decreasing the volume, and turning the camera on or off will be found on top of the device. The Echo Show 5’s model number can be found on the bottom of the device and should read H23K37. Colors like charcoal and sandstone are available for this device. The 2nd Generation model offers those colors along with Deep Sea Blue and Chameleon for kids. One way to differentiate this model from the 2nd gen (2021 release) is the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack on the rear of the 1st generation model. The only other distinguishing feature is the change from a 1 Megapixel to a 2 Megapixel Camera for the 2nd generation model, the camera cutout is square on the 2nd generation model, while it is round on the 1st generation model. The 2nd generation model also allows the use of the camera to monitor the home while the 1st generation does not.
