VCS 2600

Surround  rating is 2rating is 2rating is 2rating is 2rating is 2
also known as Chase (Sears)

"Welcome to the exciting and competitive world of SURROUND. Your basic objective is to surround your opponent, causing him to run out of space in which to move, and at the same time not running into anything yourself. You can set up a blockade, force him into a corner or wander off by yourself and hope that he runs into something on his own."

Surround is an adaptation of the popular arcade hit Blockade, which inspired many variations. The Atari version for the VCS is interesting with its numerous options, but a bit disappointing when it comes to graphics and sound, both very elementary. Ok, it was one of the first games available of the VCS, should we remember that.

Options include:
- SPEED UP (the game speeds up automatically at different intervals. There are five speeds in all.)
- DIAGONAL MOVEMENT
- ERASE (no blocks will appear on the screen while you press the button)
- WARPAROUND (when you move your leader block off
the playfield, it will reappear at the opposite side)

There is even a VIDEO GRAFFITI mode where you can simply draw patterns on the screen...

Chase was the same game marketed by Sears.
