Little information available about this professional computer running CP/M. Help wecome to know more about this system.
It seems that the Welect 80-2 was produced in France at the beginning of the 80s. It's a professional computer running CP/M with two built-in 8'' floppy disk drives. An optional hard disk (5 or 10 mb) could be connected.
Among the few sources that we have found about this computer, we know that some models still used in 1988 ran CP/M 3.1 as their operating system.
The Welect 80-2, one of the few CP/M based french computer, was mainly sold to french administrations and big companies would could afford it as it was quite expensive compared to its foreign competitors.
We know so far that the Welect 80-2 was used by:
- La Rochelle CRTS (fisheries data processing center)
- Vichy Charmeil meteo station
- Douai coal mines administration
The computer was also distributed under the OGIP label.
