Where Kastellorizon island, Greece
When 1979
Photographer James P. Blair

The island of Kastellorizon lies two miles (3.2 kilometers) off the Turkish coast. Since antiquity it has known many reversals of fortune. In the 1930s it prospered as a stopover for seaplanes. By 1979 many islanders had moved to Australia and scores of houses stood vacant.
