Today's date: September 20th, 2017
Current Temperature in Slaterville Springs NY: 76F
In other words, it's WARM here! It's quite a bit warmer here
right now than it's been for most of the summer months this
season.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I love warm weather...
but living in NY one gets used to a sometimes chilly summer.
The "Big September Drop" hasn't happened here yet. Shocking to
me...
I gave up on my tomatoes ripening this week (they were still
green as all get out :( ) but turned them into fried green
tomatoes yesterday.
So... how's your weather been? I know Florida has had a rough
time with hurricanes - my older sister had to evacuate their
home last week. Hope all in your families are safe down there.

If the professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio out of a

vegetables, what is baby oil made from?
If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from

Why do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have

FileFind - The Fido Search Echo

This is a JFYI type article... we have a number of new/returning
sysops so I figured it can't hurt to cover this :)
We have a message echo area in Fidonet named 'FILEFIND` where
folks can query other systems' ALLFIX programs or other systems'
archie-type function when you are looking for a file one may
need or want. Other fidonet systems that support this will
respond to your request with information regarding found files.
The way you use this echo is to post a message in the FILEFIND
message echo addressed to ALLFIX with the file you are looking
for in the Subj: line with a "/":
From: Janis Kracht
To: Allfix
Subj: /FIDO

BBBS supports this function, and it works great!

Note! Do not enable this on your
NetMail area!
AllFix request is a simple way to find
a specific file(s) from remote systems
by using wildcards or keyscan.
The structure of a message to
AllFix is very simple. The message must
be addressed to AllFix. The
subject line must contain a list of
file specifications or keywords.
Keywords must be enclosed within double
quotes and/or started with dash
character. You can put more than one
word within the quotes.
For example, in the following message,
Super Luser is looking for the latest
version of BBBS and a help file.

file directory use "@r:all" flag in
the filedir* file. AllFix does not
belong to the "all" group!
If you enable both AllFix and
NameFix in the same area
and BBBS receives a message
addressed to BRoboCop, both files
and users are checked.

So, if you don't carry the message echo FILEFIND, turn it on :)
If you are running Allfix or a compatible file echo manager that
supports archie-type searches, chances are your bbs will support
this handy function.
