E D I T O R I A L

What a week.. As I mentioned in few echos this week, I got a
serious sinus infection.. so I took a lot of aspirin which
normally gives me no problems at all... That was Friday night
IIRC.. It's all mostly a cloud trying to remember to be honest
right now
Anyway, I figured it was just a bad sinus attack and went to
bed.. I woke up the next morning and the left side of my face
had blown up like a balloon.. I could hardly see out of right
eye.. I didn't really want to ignore it, but you know, I'm a
stubborn Italian.. I get sinus all the time with every pressure
change or season change :)
Finally Sunday when it didn't let it up and really REALLY still
hurt so badly, I went to an emergency medical place where the
doctor du jour treated me.. She seemed good and though, and I
told her about all of my allergies to most antibiotics because
I'd already had one bout of Anaphalactic shock (NOT fun) and my
doc had even presribed an Epipen for me to use if it ever
happened again. Well anyway, she assured me the antibiotic she
was prescribing for me would be fine (hahahahaha). It might give
me some indesgestion. I should have known that would not be
case.. but I wanted it to work dammit :)
Well Monday morning I woke up (why does this always creep up on
me at night??? ), and the RIGHT side of my face was also
swollen so badly that I couldn't see out my RIGHT eye.
I dumped the pills, and called my own General Practioner who is
so aware of all my allergies with Antibiotics.. He made room for
my visit almost immediately and said GEEZ when he saw my face..
he quickly presribed an antibiotic that IS working, and isn't
giving me any problems, some Prednisone to take down the
swelling (boy am I a motor mouth this week with that haha, and
my house probably has not been this clean in months
)..Prednisone is a great drug for energy, I'll tell you..
too bad it ruined my knees and teeth though all the years I had
to take it for MS which I've had for something like 40 years.. I
can still walk though, and I do better than most MS patients so
thats a good thing.
Anyway, I really want to thank everyone who sent me messages of
concern and I was so very thankful for everyone's well wishes.
I really really think it helped get me through this one. Thank
you to all of you again!

thankful for every one of you :)

Something my Grandmother would always tell.
My grandmother and her sister were sent over to America shortly
after WWI after they lost both their parents in Italy to the
war. They were adopted by a ranking American officer and he
raised them as his daughters.
They were both in their early teens and had only a basic grasp
of English. When they arrived they had their portrait taken.
As they watched the photographer my Grandmother's younger sister
asked her, "what is he doing?"
My Grandmother replied, "he's gotta to a focus."
Her younger sister's eyes widend as she asked, "both of us?"

How to Get Your Echo Area on the Z1 Backbone

I know this has been published in the FidoGazette a few times,
but we have a number of new folks who've asked me about this..
so I figured it can't hurt to mention the proceedure here again
:)
1)First step: Create a record for the Echolist
The echolist uses a robot to accept your record, and add it to
the database maintained by Ben Ritchey, our echolist keeper,
@1:1/21.
The robot at 1:1/21 knows a number of keywords, so you can
define your echo record. These keywords appear in the following
text on the left, the data for the keyword follows on the same
line as below.

Cooking: Even SysOps have to eat
Internet finds :)
High protein cookie bars
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas, well-rinsed
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 oz. unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup nutbutter
1/4 cup nondairy milk
(I used almond milk. Water will probably work,too)
1 teaspoon baking powder
Instructions
First, drain and wash chickpeas well. Make sure they are
well-washed so that the cookie dough doesn’t taste like beans.
Add all the ingredients except chocolate into a blender or
food processor and process until smooth. Adjust liquid as
needed. Stir in chocolate chunks.
Drop dough by Tablespoonfuls on an un-greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 400F for 15 minutes or until the bottoms are nice
and brown.

Unlike most editors, I surely do not mind running my mouth
when there is a sparsity of articles for the 'zine. I'd
MUCH rather you sent in material... lacking that, I will
fill these issues with my meanderings and thoughts and
hopefully we will grow into something of consequence here
:)

If you are using routed Fidonet mail, don't send articles as routed

Don't worry about the format, I can take anything you send me
and mutilate it further as you can see above. Linux is nice
that way (g). Spell checking your own work will help though
(something I'm typically guilty of (g)).
