E D I T O I A L

This is the first FidoGazette issue for 2015. As you probably
noticed, it covers the months of January-March.
Life gets crazy sometimes as we all know firsthand, and the first few
months of 2015 were certainly zany over here...
Some great things and some bad things.. sadly one can't select which
things will happen in life so you go with the flow :)
We sold our house in Windsor NY very quickly once we put it on the
market in late January/early February ( * Very good thing * )
It had taken quite a while for contractors to get repair work done on
the house after pipes froze, but when they were done, it looked great
and I'm sure it's move-in quality had a lot to do with the quick
sale. As usual though working with lawyers, realtors, etc. took
time. That was the unfortunate bad thing, but necessary.
Just when we thought we were on top of things, and would have free
time again, our car was totaled this week.
Another driver rammed our car from the rear, sending our car
careening through one of the snow-packed backroads of Ithaca
( * geez! * ) Ron was driving and he's fine, but our car is not...
Our funny looking red Kia Soul is dead, Jim(TM)
It's irritating because it would have been paid off soon. Oh well.
So for the next several days we'll be dealing with Insurance
companies again, looking for a car and all that fun stuff.
Anyway, that's at least part of what's been going on over here. I
hope your 2015 has been a bit more .... stable :)

one-purpose website with a dedicated domain name. The site was
created in 2008 by Jim Garvin and Ryan Geary, who have since created
spin-off sites including Let Me Snopes That For You and Let Me
Wikipedia That For You.
The site was designed as a service to tech-savvy people who are
frequently asked for help doing research. The purpose is to gently,
if somewhat sarcastically, point out that the person who asked for
help could easily search for the information themselves.
Here's how it works: On the LMGTFY website, type or copy the question
into the search box. A link is generated to a demonstration of a
Google search for that information, which can then be shared with the

C O O K I N G: Even SysOps have to Eat

Stuffed Flank Steak

1 large flank steak or 2 medium sized steaks
3 slices bacon, uncooked
3 slices, rendered and crumbled up
1/4 lb. bacon rendered.
2 stalks celery, diced
1 medium onion, diced
1 cup stuffing, see below
1) Make the stuffing and set aside.
Stuffing:
1 cup soft bread crumbs (Italian bread or white bread cut into cubes)
1 clove garlic, minced
Rendered bacon fat
1 onion, chopped
1 stalk celery minced
Italian flat-leaf parsley
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon sage
In a medium size frying pan, saute the garlic and onions in the
bacon fat until the vegetables are limp and the garlic is golden.
Stir in the seasonings and the breadcrumbs mixing well to coat the
bread. The stuffing should be moist, if not you can add beef broth
or water a few tablespoons at a time.
2) Saute 3 slices of bacon and reserve the bacon fat. Crumble the
pieces of bacon and set aside.
3) Place the steak in between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound
with a mallet gently.
4) Add celery, diced onion and crumbled bacon to the stuffing.
5) Spread the stuffing on the meat and roll the meat up in jellyroll
fashion. Wrap 3 strips of bacon around steak, and secure with
toothpicks. Place on cookie sheet and bake at 350F for 45 minutes.

Unlike most editors, I surely do not mind running my mouth
when there is a sparsity of articles for the 'zine. I'd
MUCH rather you sent in material... lacking that, I will
fill these issues with my meanderings and thoughts and
hopefully we will grow into something of consequence here
:)

If you are using routed Fidonet mail, don't send articles as routed

Don't worry about the format, I can take anything you send me
and mutilate it further as you can see above. Linux is nice
that way (g). Spell checking your own work will help though
(something I'm typically guilty of (g)).
