Here's a recipe I found in an interesting place: hiding out on the
Associated Press website.
MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
Title: Associated Press Dinner Biscuits
Categories: Appetizers, Breads, Seandennis
Yield: 10 Servings
2 c All-purpose flour
1 T Baking powder
1 t Salt
1/4 t Garlic powder
1/4 t Ground black pepper
1 T Minced fresh chives
4 T Butter, cold, cut into
- small pieces
1 1/4 c Buttermilk, divided
Start to finish: 25 minutes
Servings: 10
Heat the oven to 450 degrees F. Coat a baking sheet with cooking
spray or line it with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic
powder, black pepper, and chives. Add the butter and use knives or a
pastry cutter to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the
mixture resembles coarse wet sand. Add 1 cup of the buttermilk and
mix until the dough just comes together.
Alternatively, in a food processor combine the flour, baking powder,
salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and chives. Pulse twice to mix,
then add the butter. Pulse several times to work the butter into the
dry indredients until the mixture resembles coarse wet sand. Add 1
cup of the buttermilk and pulse until the dough just comes together.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured counter and knead the dough 6
to 8 times. Use a lightly floured rolling pin to roll out the dough
to about 1/2 inch thick. Use a 3-inch biscuit cutter to cut out
biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Use a pastry brush to brush the top of each biscuit with a bit of the
remaning buttermilk. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes.
NOTES:
* If you want to prep these early, combine the dry ingredients and set
aside until ready to bake. Mix in the butter and buttermilk only just
before you are ready to bake.
* The trick to getting the most height from biscuits is to use a clean
cutter and press down smoothly and swiftly; don't twist the cutter.
Nutrition information per serving (values are rounded to the nearest
whole number): 135 calories; 42 calories from fat; 5 g fat (3 g
saturated; 0 g trans fats); 14 mg cholesterol; 20 g carbohydrate; 4 g
protein; 0 g fiber; 446 mg sodium.

Down here in the South, this is one of the most oft-enjoyed drinks I've
found.

Title: Peach Iced Tea
Categories: Beverages, Fruits
Yield: 6 Servings
1/3 c Fresh mint leaves
4 tb Granulated sugar
2 tb Fresh lemon juice
4 c Cold water
4 ts Bags (individual size)
1 1/2 c Peach nectar
This recipe was printed on a 10-pound bag of Domino Pure Cane Sugar.
It looked good, so I made it. And it's great!
Using the back of a spoon, crush the mint leaves with the sugar and
lemon juice in a small bowl. Set aside.
In a 1-1/2 quart pan or tea kettle, over high heat, bring the cold
water to a boil. Pour over the tea bags and mint mixture in a
heat-proof pitcher or container. Stir briefly. Allow to steep 4 to 5
minutes or until desired strength.
Strain tea into another container and add peach nectar. Cool. To
serve, pour into ice-filled glasses. Garnish with peach wedge and
mint sprig, if desired.
Makes about 6 servings.

If you are using routed Fidonet mail, don't send articles as routed
attaches. They will fail somewhere along the path before getting here.
Send them instead direct to filegate.net.
Give it a title, sign your name and network address if you have
one and send it along!
Don't worry about the format, I can take anything you send me
and mutilate it further as you can see above. Linux is nice
that way (g). Spell checking your own work will help though
(something I'm typically guilty of (g)).
