    What is the Heartbleed vulnerablity?

The Heartbleed Bug is a serious vulnerability in the popular
OpenSSL cryptographic software library. This weakness allows
stealing the information protected, under normal conditions, by
the SSL/TLS encryption used to secure the Internet. SSL/TLS
provides communication security and privacy over the Internet
for applications such as web, email, instant messaging (IM) and
    some virtual private networks (VPNs).

The Heartbleed bug allows anyone on the Internet to read the
memory of the systems protected by the vulnerable versions of
the OpenSSL software. This compromises the secret keys used to
identify the service providers and to encrypt the traffic, the
names and passwords of the users and the actual content. This
allows attackers to eavesdrop on communications, steal data
directly from the services and users and to impersonate services
    and users.

What makes the Heartbleed Bug unique?

Bugs in single software or library come and go and are fixed by
new versions. However this bug has left large amount of private
keys and other secrets exposed to the Internet. Considering the
long exposure, ease of exploitation and attacks leaving no trace
this exposure should be taken seriously.

    What is being leaked?

Encryption is used to protect secrets that may harm your privacy
or security if they leak. In order to coordinate recovery from
this bug we have classified the compromised secrets to four
categories: 1) primary key material, 2) secondary key material
and 3) protected content and 4) collateral.

Keywords: Heartbleed, Heartbleed scanner, Heartbleed Security,
Heartbleed detector, Heartbleed detection, Heartbleed Security
    Scanner, mobile security.

    Asian Boneless Pork Ribs
    By Janis Kracht, 1:261/38, janis@filegate.net

Wegmans had a boneless pork rib end, so I thought this recipe
would be perfect for this cut.

You can cook this roast on the grill as below, or in preheated
400F oven for ten minues, reducing the heat afterwords to 350F.
Using a sharp knife, cut the roast almost all the way through
into ribs about an inch thick. I didn't separate the ribs, but
you could, and then lay them flat if you're doing this in the
    oven like I did.

    Ingredients:
     1 clove Garlic, minced
     2 ts Water
     1 tb Sugar
     1 tb Ginger, fresh, grated
2 1/2 lb Boneless pork rib end roast
     1/3 cup Catsup
     1/3 cup Soy sauce
1/4 cup Shao xing rice wine
     1 tb Mustard, dry

Combine the sherry, soy sauce, sugar, ginger and garlic,
blending well. Place the pork roast in a dish or plastic bag,
add the sauce, and brush over the meat or close the bag tightly
and turn to coat the meat with the sauce. Marinate at room
temperature 2 to 3 hours or in the refrigerator overnight. This
cut of pork is best cooked on a grill with a cover or on a spit.

If you do not have a spit or grill with a cover, shape a loose
tent of foil over the meat to hold in the heat and help prevent
flare-ups while cooking. Remove the meat from the marinade,
reserving the marinade, and place on a grill 6 to 8 inches above
a drip pan surrounded by hot coals or with the coals pushed to
the back of the grill. Brush the meat with the sauce and grill 1
hour, basting and turning as needed to cook evenly and prevent
flare-ups. Test with a meat thermometer. When the internal
temperature reaches 160 degrees F. the meat is thoroughly cooked
but still tender and juicy. A thick roast might require 30
minutes longer. Just before the meat is done, mix the catsup
into the remaining marinade and brush over the meat. Turn and
glaze the meat over the drip pan. Remove the meat to a serving
plater, cover loosely with foil and let stand 30 minutes. About
10 minutes before serving, mix the dry mustard to a smooth thin
paste with the water. Slice the pork roast thinly and serve the
catsup sauce and mustard sauce separately, or swirl the mustard
into the catsup sauce. "I was a young woman in Miami when I
first had what my date called Chinese roast pork with hot and
heavenly sauce. This is my adaptation, after I learned that the
restauranteurs hot and heavenly is American catsup and mustard."

    Issue #: 28

    Let us open our bibles...

Gen 23:1 And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old:
these were the years of the life of Sarah.

It seems like one hundred and twenty seven years doesn't seem like
a long time back in the day. You have to understand that life
expectancy was cut short because of mans rebellion and disobedience
towards God. Sarah had been ninety years old when she bore her son
Isaac. That would be a miracle these days. If you recall in
    Genesis chapter six, verse three:

Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with
man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an
             hundred and twenty years.

One hundred and twenty years is the longest man shall live. That
is a long time, with the returning of our Lord from the cross, lets
keep this in mind as we celebrate his life, death and resurrection.

Gen 23:2 And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same is Hebron in the
land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and
              to weep for her.

Abraham loved his wife Sarah and was sad to see her die. God did
not lie to Abraham when he said his seed will be of the numbers of
the stars and the number of grains of sand.

Gen 23:3 And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spake unto
              the sons of Heth, saying,
Gen 23:4 I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a
possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my
              dead out of my sight.

Gen 23:5 And the children of Heth answered
Abraham, saying unto him, Gen 23:6 Hear us, my lord: thou
art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our
sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from
thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.
Gen 23:7 And Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of
the land, even to the children of Heth.
Gen 23:8 And he communed with them, saying, If it be your mind
that I should bury my dead out of my sight; hear me, and intreat
for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,
Gen 23:9 That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath,
which is in the end of his field; for as much money as it
is worth he shall give it me for a possession of a
              buryingplace amongst you.
Gen 23:10 And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron
the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the
children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of
              his city, saying,
Gen 23:11 Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the
cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of
the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead.
Gen 23:12 And Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the
land. Gen 23:13 And he spake unto Ephron in the
audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou
wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee
money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my
              dead there.
Gen 23:14 And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him, Gen 23:15
My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred
shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee?
              bury therefore thy dead.
Gen 23:16 And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to
Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of
the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current
              money with the merchant.
Gen 23:17 And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before
Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all
the trees that were in the field, that were in all the
borders round about, were made sure
Gen 23:18 Unto Abraham for a possession in the presence
of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the
              gate of his city.
Gen 23:19 And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave
of the field of Machpelah before Mamre: the same is
Hebron in the land of Canaan.
Gen 23:20 And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made
sure unto Abraham for a possession of a buryingplace by the sons of
              Heth.

And, now Abraham has a burial place for his beloved wife Sarah,
price paid in full. It will be a sight to see when we get to
heaven and see all of our loved ones again and those that lived
years before us, even in the very beginning. There will be no more
pain, suffering and misery in our new bodies. Let us live and
praise the Lord and keep His word tight in our hearts as we
continue to live our life. Do the best you can with what you have.
Keep positive, keep believing for good things and the Lord will
    guide your steps.

    INFO:

Fidogazette is published by Janis Kracht, Editor, with the help
of Richard Webb (Old School ToolBox). If you have an idea for a
column or a series of articles, please contact me :)

    New!
    Mailing-List subscriptions via
    www.filegate.net // lists / ?p=subscribe
but of course you can always link into your uplink and use
Tick or a tick compatible program.

    Where to Send Your Articles

Unlike most editors, I surely do not mind running my mouth
when there is a sparsity of articles for the 'zine. I'd
MUCH rather you sent in material... lacking that, I will
fill these issues with my meanderings and thoughts and
hopefully we will grow into something of consequence here
    :)

    Write an article!

If you WOULD like to submit an article, feel free to drop
    your article off at:

Email attach to address: janis @ filegate.net

Fidonet attach: Janis Kracht at 1:261/38
     Modem: 607-200-4076
     Binkp: 1:261/100 filegate.net port 24555
     telnet mailer: filegate.net

If you are using routed Fidonet mail, don't send articles as routed
attaches. They will fail somewhere along the path before getting here.
Send them instead direct to filegate.net.

Give it a title, sign your name and network address if you have
    one and send it along!

Don't worry about the format, I can take anything you send me
and mutilate it further as you can see above. Linux is nice
that way (g). Spell checking your own work will help though
(something I'm typically guilty of (g)).

To send reviews or recipes to the Food section, email or
    netmail Janis as above.

Email address for submissions to Dr.Debug:
To send a question to Dr. Debug, email a question to:
          drdebug @ filegate.net
or post in the fidogazette echo! :)

To send a listing to the FidoGazette bbslist, email your
    listing to:
      bbslist @ filegate.net
or post it in the fidogazette echo!
