New Beginnings

Our Zone 1 Echolist database is now being maintained by Ben
Ritchey, 1:393/68. As such, he's taken over the nodelisting of
1:1/21.
This will facilitate people adding/removing echos. With all of
the backbone stars now online with the change to their routing,
any echomail update to the echolist robot should arrive without
fail.
Ben is still working out some gotcha's with his binkp mailer
with direct connects, but hopefully that will be taken care of
shortly.
I've set up an account over here at filegate.net for the
echolist, so you can use echolist@filegate.net to submit
updates via email. Your record entry will go directly to Ben.
Ben will be releasing new updated files in the ECHOLIST file echo.
Thanks so much for all your time, Ben!
I've moved the ECHOLIST file echo out of the SDS file
distribution and into it's own file echo. This won't affect you
very much, it's just a bother to me to see people's names on our
file list who've left Fidonet... and the SDS hasn't been er..
alive in a very long time. Please see the latest filegate.zxx

C O O K I N G: Even SysOps have to Eat

Biscotti Recipes
Lemon Almond Flour Bicotti
2 cups blanched almond flour
2 tablespoon arrowroot powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup honey
1 1/2 tablespoon lemon zest
1/2 cup chopped toasted almonds
Mix together almond flour, arrowroot, salt and baking soda. Add
honey and lemon zest and mix until the dough can form a ball.
Add chopped almonds and mix with your hands. Form 4 logs on a
parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake at 350F for 15 minutes then
cool for an hour. Cut the logs into 1/2 inch slices on the
diagonal with a very sharp knife. Spread slices out on a baking
sheet and bake at 300F for 12-15 minutes. Remove from oven and
allow to cool.
Anisette Bicotti
2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons anise seeds
2 tablespoons anise extract
2 tablespoons water
1/2 pound margarine
2 tablespoons baking powder
6 eggs
5 1/2 cups flour
Sift the flour and baking powder together and set aside.
Melt the margarine.
In a large bowl, pour the margarine over the sugar. Add the
anise seeds, extract and water and beat. Add the eggs and beat
again. Add the flour mixture to margarine and sugar mixture and
mix well. Refrigerate the dough for 3 hours or overnight.
To form the biscotti, shape 8 or so long rolls. Flatten them
and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 350F for about 20 minutes.
Slide the rolls off the cooking sheet, and slice the rolls
diagonally. Place the sliced biscotti back on the pans, cut
side up, and return the pan to the oven. Allow to brown, then
turn the biscotti over and brown the other side. Store in an
airtight tin or container.
